In 1993, palaeontologist Donald Russell began designing a building in the 'radiating' Gothic style after spending fifteen years studying Gothic architecture at the Sorbonne University in Paris.
Now, almost three decades later, thanks to the incredible generosity of donors and his tireless volunteer workforce, the dream is almost a reality, rising stone by stone from the heart of the French countryside.
When completed (scheduled for 2028), Opus Gothique will be open to all as a not-for-profit museum promoting 13th-century architecture and stone-carving techniques.
Visits by prior arrangement and guided tours only.
