LA GRANGE DE RICHATEAU

THE LOCATION: Halfway between Paris and Lyon, Auxerre and Dijon

Our barn is part of the small, typical and friendly hamlet of Richâteau at an altitude of 400 m at the end of a small road with no traffic. It's 2km from Lormes (58), a lively little town in the Morvan Regional Park.
The peace and quiet here are impressive. Nature here is truly unspoilt, with a remarkable diversity of flora and fauna and famous starry skies.
We're on the edge of the forest and surrounded by meadows.
The unique landscape of the Morvan des Sommets et des Lacs (community of communes) is made up of hills, large lakes, forests and meadows used for livestock farming.

THE HOUSE:
La Grange de Richateau is an old barn that we converted into a home for our family. Stone, wood and terracotta tiles take pride of place. There are three levels:

. On the ground floor, a very large divided room (ridge height 9m) where you can enjoy the sunrise and sunset :
a large living room with west-facing bay window leading onto a terrace with views over our meadow, its trees and the Yonne valley.

. On the other floors, 4 bedrooms, 3 double beds, 4 single beds:
1 bedroom with bathroom and toilet
1 wooden mezzanine
3 bedrooms (1 bedroom with double bed, 1 bedroom with double bed + single bed, 1 bedroom with 3 single beds)
1 bathroom and toilet
If required, there is underfloor heating, central heating with radiators and a wood-burning stove.

SURROUNDINGS & ACTIVITIES

Our Morvan is a wild place, unspoilt by tourism and mass farming.
Along with the mountains, it is one of the least polluted places in France.
In 2025, the Parc du Morvan will officially become an "International Dark Sky Reserve", so watch out astronomy fans!

It has a long history as a land of resistance and hospitality.

The shops in Lormes are a 3-minute drive away, or a 25-minute walk along a beautiful panoramic footpath.

The gastronomy of the Morvan is renowned, with good local produce and excellent restaurants.

This town of character is now renowned for its art galleries (drawings, paintings, sculptures, photos, second-hand goods, creations, decoration) and its many artistic events throughout the year (jazz concerts, performances, etc.).

Fans of second-hand goods, antiques and vintage design will be delighted.

Numerous hiking, trail, mountain bike and quad routes, as well as horse, pony and donkey rides. All set amid forests, meadows and hills.
Several trails of varying lengths start from La Grange.
The Chalaux and Cure torrents are famous for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and hydrospeed.
The Etang du Goulot at Lormes and the large, wild Lac de Chaumeçon, 20 minutes' drive away, are superb for swimming.
With all its lakes and rivers, the Morvan is a fisherman's dreamland.
There are even several rock-climbing sites.
In Lormes, you can also hire a tennis court.

Heritage: we're a 10-minute drive from Vauban's Château de Bazches and 20 minutes from Vézelay. There are many castles and medieval villages in the surrounding area.

And of course, for those who want to relax in peace and quiet, breathe, decompress, recharge their batteries, cook, recuperate, meditate, sleep...
